My DIY Decorations for the Holiday Table Setting

My Holiday tables setting this year involved a plenty of DIY decorations, and as I announced in my previous post, I am going to share all that with you in this post.

I will first start with the place cards. There is something special about the place setting cards in every event or family gatherings. It makes you feel really happy and special when you see your name on the table next to your seat. The joy is even bigger when you realize that all that was hand made.

I crated these little cupcake place settings using what I had at home and they ended up looking so cute, and really complemented the theme.

I wanted to have a simple centre piece and a lot of candles, but could not find a suitable candelabra that is close what I was envisioning, so I designed one and sent the sketch to the local blacksmith. He did the best he could in executing the design. The finished product does not have that polished factory look, but it is hand made and has the look that I envisioned. It looks great with the candles on.

The candles are also altered with this simple DIY. I wanted some golden sparkle on candles, so i wrapped the bottom of a candle with a 2 “ stripe of a golden self adhesive foil.

Instead of using napkin rings I simply tied the napkin with a very short piece of black cotton ribbon, and added a finishing touch by simply placing on top of the napkin a candy cane wrapped in a fancy gold wrapping paper. So simple, but it made a great impact in the whole setting.

I also flocked my wreaths. The fresh handmade wreaths were showing some “wear and tear”. I made them too early this year and since they were placed right above the radiators they really dried out fast. So I had to intervene on them with another DIY. I flocked them, using first white decorative spray paint, then sprayed them with adhesive and then sprinkled them with artificial looking snow.

And, lastly I altered my cutlery. This year I wanted a touch of gold in every detail, and I was really hopping that I will find a cutlery that has a touch of gold, but did not want to spend too much money on them. I was not lucky. Prices were to high for what was offered, and there is no Target where I live; hence, DIY came into play. I spray painted the cutlery handles.

To prevent them from easy scratching, after the paint dried I applied a coat of boat varnish. They look great, and I will use them only for a fancy table settings. They are not dishwasher safe though, however I am not going to use them very often so hand washing is OK in this case.

To have a beautiful ad fun Holiday table setting does not take a lot of money to achieve the look you want. Some easy and simple DIY’s can do the trick. Happy DIY anyone who decides to undertake one of these projects.

Tavolina ime festive me plot dekore me metoden Beje Vet (DIY)

Tryeza ime festive kete vit ngertheu ne vete shume dekorime te tipit Beje Vet (DIY), dhe une u zotova ne postin tim paraprak se do t’i ndaje me ju te gjitha dekorimet qe i Bera Vet (DIY).

Po filloi me kartat e venduljes per mysafir. Ka dicka speciale lidhur me keto kartat e venduljes qe mund t’i hasim ne eventet e ndryshme apo ne ahengjet familjare. Ato te bejne te ndjehesh disi i gezuar dhe special kur te shohesh emrin tende ne tavoline afer karriges ku do te ulesh. Kenaqesia eshte edhe me e madhe kur te kupton se ato jane pune dore.

I krijova keto dekore qe mbajne emrat e mysafireve te ftuar qe te duken sikurse embelsira te volga (cupcake) dhe ato dolen shume simpatike dhe vertete e komplementuan temen e dekorit te tryezes.
Procesi ishte shume i thjeshte dhe mund te ndiqet permes fotove me larte.

Per sa i perket dekorit qendror te tavolines, deshiroja qe te ishte me shume qirinje por nuk gjeja mbajtese qirinjesh qe i pershtatej visionit tim, andaj edhe e dizajnova mbajtesen dhe permes nje skicimi te thjeshte ajo u realizua nga nje mjeshter saldues. Produkti final nuk e ka ate finalizimin sic do ta kishte nje produkt i fabrikuar, por me rendesi eshte qe mbajtsja e ka pamjen qe une e deshiroja dhe duket shume bukur me qirinje.

Dukja e qirinjeve gjithashtu ka te involvuar metoden Beje Vet (DIY). Deshiroja qe qirinjet e bardhe te kishin pake shkelqim ngjyre ari, andaj edhe e mbeshtolla pjesen e poshtme te qiriut me nje folie ngjitese ngjyre ari, dhe krijova nje dizajn vertete unik te qirinjve.

Ne vend qe te perdori unazat per salvetat e ushqimit, une thjeshte i lidha ato me nje shirit te shkurter pambuku te zi dhe siper tyre vendosa nje sheqerke ne forme shkopi te cilen poashtu e mbeshtolla me leter dekoruese metalike.

Yjet e bardha nga letra, te vendosura ne qender te tryezes gjithashtu i bera vet duke u sherbyer me instrukcionet qe i mora ne kete link.

Gjithshtu i bera me debore artificiale kurorat nga gjethet e fresketa te pishes te cilat i kisha punuar shume me heret. Pas disa javeve ato filluan paksa te vyshken andaje edhe nevojitej nje intervenim. Efektin e debores ne to e fitova duke i sperkatur me sprej te bardhe dekorativ dhe pastaj i bera me sprej ngjites dhe menjehere mbi to hudha fluska artificiale debore.

Dhe perfundimisht nderhyra edhe tek thikat dhe pirunjet. Kete vit deshiroja qe t’i kisha gjithsesi luget,thikat dhe pirunjet me ngjyre metalike te arit. Megjithate, cmimet te cilat ishin neper shitore per nje komplet te tille ishin tej mase te larta dhe une nuk isha e pergaditur te shpenzoj aq shume para per to, dhe fatkeqsisht nuk e kam ndonje Target (mega shitore Amerikane qe ofron produkte moderne me cmime te ulta) afer qe t’i blej me cmim te volitshem; por me metoden Beje Vet e arita pamjen e tyre cfare e deshiroja duke i ngjyrosur dorezat e tyre me sprej ngjyre ari.

Per t’ju shmangur grithjeve qe shkaktohen gjat perdorimit, i lyva me nje shtrese llaku te anijeve dhe i lash qe te teren mire. Po duken shume bukur, dhe do t’i perdori vetem kohe pas kohe, vetem re rastet te vecanta,pasi qe nuk mund te lahen ne makine te eneve.

Pra qe te keni nje tryeze festive te bukur nuk do te thot qe te shpenzoni shume. Disa dekorime me metoden Beje Vet jane nje nder truqet si si munde te arini pamjen qe e deshironi. Me fat puna Beje Vet per te gjithe ata te cilet do ta bejne ndonjerin nga keto projekte, dhe mos haroni t’a ndani me mua punen t’uaj.

Holiday Table Setting Featuring Plenty of DIY-s

I am not the only one who loves the Holiday season. There are so many reasons to adore this time of year: family get togethers, joy and happiness that is spread around, lights and colours throughout, gift giving/receiving, helping those in need and you name it aaaannd, my favourite, THE FOOD. No Holiday is perfect unless there is a food, and by that i mean plenty and variety of it.

Food tastes always great, but if there is a special setting where the food is served during the Holidays than you take your food to another level of enjoyment.

To make your table look stylish and special doesn’t take to brake a bank. It only takes a willingness, some creativity and a lot of DIY.

So this is how I created this table setting concept for these Holidays and I am over exited with the look I achieved, and also hope that my guests are going to love it too.

I started with a grey tablecloth, and white washed curly placemats which I purchased this spring in Istanbul, Turkey. This tablecloth and the placemats are the only purchase that I made this year for this table setting, all other items I already owned or I DIY-ed.

I will start with the napkins. I got these 10 napkins as a present, but there was no hemming on them; however, they were of a high quality cotton fabric so I really apreciated the gift. I hemmed them using a miter joint method (90 degree angle) and they turned really nice.

To add a glam detail, instead of a ring, I tied the napkins with a black cotton ribbon and gently placed a gold detail on top of the napkin. The gold detail is in fact a DIY treat for the guests, and there will be another post sharing what that treat is and how it was done.

The cutlery is another DIY. In Pristina, where I am at present the prices of the cutlery with gold appearance details are extremely expensive so, as much as I wanted to incorporate such cutlery on my table setting, I was not prepared to pay the top price for it. So I DIY-ed the cutlery, and I will be sharing the process in another post.

The candle holder is a work of a local blacksmith done based on design sketched by me, and the gold part of the candles is another DIY of mine. As you can see they are not perfect and there are candle dripings here and there, but that was the whole idea to have that imperfection on the table. I love the look of the candle drippings. Candle with those drippings is just like the life. Life goes on, just like a candle that keeps lighting up, while getting imperfected and sometimes messy with those drippings; but, it keeps going on while making us happy so we do not find those drippings to be bothersome.

Flocked wreaths are DIY too. I just looooove their look. They added such a classy and dreamy look to the whole table set up. Adding them in clusters, really make space feel less formal and fun.

Dekorim festiv i tavolines me elemente dekoruese te tipit Beje Vet (DIY)

Une nuk jam e vetmja qe i gezohet festave te fundvitit. Ka shume arsye per t’i pelqyer keto festa: tubimet me familje, gezimi dhe lumturia qe eshte e perhapur gjithandej gjat ketyre festave, dritat dhe ngjyrat ne cdo skute, dhenja dhe pranimi i dhuratave, ndihma atyre qe kane nevoje, e cka mos tjeter, dheeee me e dashura per mua USHQIMI. Asnje feste nuk eshe perfekte poqese nuk ka ushqim aty, dhe kur them ushqim atehere mendoj shume ushqim dhe llojllojshmeri ushqimi.

Ushqimi gjithehere eshte i mire, por nese eshte i servuar ne ndonje tavoline te dekoruar ne menyre speciale per festa, atehere perjetimi i ushqimit ngritet ne nje nivel tjeter te kenaqesise.

Qe t’a beni tavolinen e juaj te duket me me stil dhe speciale, ju nuk duheni te shpenzoni shume para. Ju duhet vetem pak deshire, pak kreativitet dhe shume gjera mund t’i beni vet.

Pra ja se si e krijova kete koncpet dekori te tavolines per festat e sivjetme te fundvitit, dhe jam shume e lumtur me pamjen e arijtur, dhe shpresoj qe mysafiret e mi gjithashtu do t’a pelqejne.

Fillova me nje mbulese ngjyre gri, dhe me shtroje nenpjatash ngjyre te bardhe te shperlare te cilat i kisha blere ne fillim te vitit ne Stanboll. Kjo mbulese dhe shtrojet e nenpjatave jane te vetmet blerje qe i kam bere per t’a realizuar kete dekor, the te gjitha gjesendet tjera i bera vet (DIY).

Po filloj me salvetat. I kisha fituar si dhurate 10 salveta qe nuk i kishin skajet e kthyera, por ishin nga materiali i pambukut i kualitetit shume te larte. I ktheva skajet duke e perdorur metoden e qepjes se skajit ne kendin 90 shkalle dhe u perfunduan shume bukur.

Per t’i shtuar nje detal glamuros,ne vend te unazes per salveta, i lidha salvetat me nje fjongo te zeze nga pambuku kualitativ dhe e vendosa siper salvetes nje detaj ngjyre ari. Detaji ngjyre ari ne te vertet eshte nje detaj Beje Vet, dhe eshte nje dhurate e vogel per mysafiret, ndersa metoden se si e bera do ta ndaje me ju se shpejtin, ne njerin nga postet e ardhshme.

Edhe luget dhe pirunjet kan te involvuar punen Beje Vet. Ne Prishtine, cmimet e lugeve dhe pirunjeve ngjyre ari ishin tejet te kushtueshme, prandaje edhepse kisha shume deshire ti inkorporoja ato ne dekorin tim festiv, nuk isha e pergaditur te paguaj cmim aq te larte. Se si i bera keto vet, do ta ndaj me ju ne njerin nga postet e ardhshme,

Mbajtesi i qirinjeve eshte pune e salduesve lokal te cilet e realizuan kete detaj ne baze te dizajnit te cilin e skicova me dore te lire.

Yjet e bardha nga letra jan gjithashtu projekte Beje Vet.

Edhe kartat e venduljes per mysafir jane gjithshtu projekte Beje Vet, dhe dolen shume, shume te bukura. Edhe per keto do e ndaj me ju se si i bera ne ndonje nga postet e ardhshme.

Kurorat e zbardhura me debore, jane projekte Beje Vet, dhe shume jan duke me pelqyer se si dolen. Ato i shtuan nje pamje shume me klas tere siperfaqes se dhomes se ushqimit. Duke i vendosur ne grumbuj prej tre e bene qe hapsira mos te duket shume formale.

Me pelqen shume dekori i tavolines kete vit dhe shpresoj qe mysafiret e mij do t’a pelqejne gjithashtu. Por prisni, une duhem te filloj te merem me zierjen…. Mysafiret presin qe te kete ushqim ketu! Ika ne kuzhine te filloj me zierje…

Easy DIY Centrepiece for Holiday Decor

Everyone who knows me, by now know that I love decorating but, as much as I love decorating, I do not like spending to much time on decorating. I always find ways to create fun and decorative pieces or designs that involve minimum of my time. I always had a busy life and, on the other hand I always loved decorating and getting myself involved into such projects, so always managed to mostly create decorative items or settings out of ordinary things found, mostly, around the house.

This centrepiece is one of the examples how one can make a pretty and fun Holiday centrepiece using items you already own. This is what I did day before yesterday after I got a call from the RTK producer to appear, in a very short notice, to chat in their Morning Show about Holiday decorating. The producer also asked me to kindly bring a sort of Holiday centrepiece to be featured during the show.

After accepting the invitation, and being busy with other engagements, I started to get worried, because there was no time for me to go and buy any decorative items for a centrepiece. In panic, the first thing that I spotted in my house was this cloche that was sitting in my kitchen counter filled with green apples ( yes, this is where I sometimes place my fruit, I love my fruit to look pretty ha ha ha)

I filled this cloche with ornaments, found a piece of fabric in the colour which has been trending this year in Holiday decorating and tied it on the top of the cloche, placed the cloche filled with ornaments on a cake stand and fitted those in a flocked wreath that was DIY-ed by me few weeks ago.

For the presentation I also took some of my nicely wrapped gifts, which were placed around the centerpiece and which really complemented it.

So for some of you who are late with Holiday decorating, do not panic. Just look around your house and, in no time you may create something fun and pretty for your Holiday decorating. Hope that you will find some inspiration from this post.

Aranzhim Dekorues Festiv – Beje Vet (DIY)

Te gjithe ata qe me njohin, deri me tash veqme e kan kuptuar se mua me pelqejn dekorimet mirepo, perkunder qe me pelqejne ato, nuk deshiroj qe te shpenzoj shume ne dekorime. Gjithehere i gjeje menyrat se si te krijoj dicka te bukur dhe simpatike por duke shpenzuar shume pake kohe.

Pjesa me e madhe e jetes sime ka qene perplot me angazhime tjera te punes, por ne anen tjeter, ghithehere kame pasur deshire te dekoroj dhe te merem me projekte te tilla dekoruese, andaje kam gjetur menyra qe te krijoj koncepte dekori si dhe dekore nga gjerat e zakonshme qe mund ti gjejme ne shtepi ose ne natyre, pa shpenzuar kohe qe ti mbledhi artikujt dekorues nga shitoret e ndryshme.

Ky aranzhim festiv eshte nje shembull se si mund te krijohet dicka e bukur dhe festive me gjesendet te cilat i keni ne shtepi. Kjo eshte cka krijova pasi mora nje thirje nga producentja ne RTK qe te paraqitem ne emisionin e mengjesit per te kesjilluar reth dekorimeve per festat e fundviti. Ajo gjithashtu shprehi deshiren qe te sillja ne studio edhe ndonji aranzhim tavoline qe do te prezentohej ne program. Kisha vetem disa ore per tu pergaditur, e ne anen tjeter kisha edhe angazhime tjera te cilat poashtu kerkonin kohen time.

Pasi e pranova ftesen, e duke i pasur parasysh edhe angazhimet tjera gjate dites, fillova te brengosem. Ne gjendje paniku, e para gje qe me ra ne sy ne ate mengjes ishte kjo zile qelqi qe ishte ne kuzhine dhe e cila ishte e mbushur me molla jeshile ( po, une nganjeher i vendosi pemet ne keso elemente dekoruese, sepse ato duhen te duken edhe me te bukura se qe jane, ha ha ha)

E mbusha kete zile me toptha bredhi, e gjeta ne shtepi nje copez materiali ngjyre roze te qelet e qe eshte duke u perdorur kete vit shume ne dekoret festive dhe me te e bera nje fjongo dhe e vendosa ne maje te ziles. Kete zile e vendosa ne mbajtese te tortes dhe te gjitha keto i vendosa ne nje kurore te cilen e kisha ne shtepi dhe te cilen e kisha punuar nga deget e pishes dhe te dekoruar me sheqerka shkop te mbeshjella me folie ngjyre ari.

Per presentim gjithashtu mora nga shtepia edhe disa nga dhuratat e mbeshtjella bukur, dhe te cilat e komplementuan kete aranzhim festiv.

Pra, per te gjith ata te cilet jane me vonese me dekorin festiv per keto festa, mos beni panik. JU nevojitet vetem te shikoni per rreth ne shtepin t’uaj dhe jam e sigurt se do te gjeni dicka qe brenda pak minutash do te krijoni dicka te bukur e festive.

Simple and Easy Holiday Decor Idea

For all of those out there who lead busy lives, and have no time to do a lot of Holiday decorating I am sharing with you some photos of my Holiday decor which took me no time to put together, and it still looks so festive and happy.

The key in achieving an instant festive Holiday look is incorporating fresh greenery, such as fresh wreaths and garlands, in your decor. The beautiful look and fresh aroma of the evergreen branches of a wreath or garland instantly bring the Holiday spirit alive and adds a sophisticated look to your decor.

To achieve this look, above the fireplace I hung one of the wreaths that I DIY-ed over the weekend, while on the mantel I simply arranged some fresh cut branches of a bush from mu garden. In between the branches I added a few candles of different heights using mix and match candleholders.

For a dramatic look, I placed the bench in front of the fireplace and on top of the bench I placed nicely wrapped gifts and some ornaments. Behind the bench I placed glass vases filled with fresh cut pine branches, a spot lamp.

And this was all I did, and I think that it still looks nice and festive. Moreover, I am happy that it took me no time to put this look together, and even happier that when Holidays are over I will take everything away in few minutes.

Pamja e tyre e bukur si dhe aroma e tyre kendshme ne menyre instante e sjellin ate spiritin festiv ne shtepite tona si dhe i jap pamje te sofistikuar dekorit t’uaj.

Per te arijtur nje pamje te tille, siper kaminit vendosa nje nder kurorat e fresketa te punuara gjat weekendit, ndersa ne mantelin e kaminit vendosa dege pishash te fresketa nga kopshti im, dhe ne mes te tyre vendosa disa qirinje ne lartesi te ndryshme.

Per nje pamje dramatike, perpara kaminit vendosa ulesen ne form banke dhe siper saje vendosa dhuratat si dhe disa rnamente. Prapa bankes vendosa dia vazo qelqi te mbushura me dege te fesketa pishe sidhe nje llamp spot.

Dhe kjo ishte e tera, dhe mendoj se me kaq pake gjera dekorative prapseprap u periftua ne pamje festive e cila po duket shume bukur. Mbi te gjitha, jame e gezuar qe per te arrijtur kete pamje shpenzova shume pake kohe, e me e rendisishmja eshte qe pas perfundimit te ketyre festave do te jet shume lehte qe te hiqen te gjitha shume shpejte dhe lehte.

Holiday Tablescape Featuring a Beautiful Centrepiece

Almost a year has passed since I did this tablescape for an appearance in a Morning show in RTK which is a Republic of Kosova public broadcaster so, before this year comes to an end, I wanted to share with my readers some photos of this tablescape set for this occasion.

For the centerpiece I used a garland which I made to fit this table and along the garland I placed a few candlesticks in white and gold.

For the charger plate I used my fine bone china oversized rectangle plates, and for the serving plates I bought some inexpensive black and white ones which had a great circle design on.

Because last year the checked, black and white items were so IN, i bought 1.50 cm of polyester fabric in this design and made 10 napkins to fit the design of my theme.

To make the guest feel special I created place cards for each guest, and also wrapped nicely some treats for guests which were placed on top of the serving plates.

It was a simple setting, but it came out really neat and nice.

Shtruarje Festive e Tavolines

Kaloi gati nje vit prej se e bera konceptin dhe dizajnin e dekorit te kesaj tavoline per paraqitjen time ne RTK ne emsionin Miremengjesi Kosove, andaje para se te perfundoi ky vit pata deshire qe ti ndaj me lexuesit e mije disa nga fotot e tavolines se shtruar plotesisht.

Per dekorin qendror te tavolines e punova nje gjerdan (garland) qe t’i pershtatej madhesise se tavolines dhe pergjate tije vendosa disa qirinje ngjyre ari dhe te bardhe.

Per pjata baze vendosa pjatat katrore porcelani kualitativ, ndersa per pjatat ku servohet ushqimi bleva disa pjata jo te shtrenjta por qe kishin nje dizajn qe i pershatej konceptit.

Pasi qe vitin e kaluar gjesendet me disajn te katrorve bardh e zi ishin shume ne trend, une bleva 1.50 cm materiali te tille dhe i qepa 10 salvetat te ushqimit nga ky material.

Per ti bere mysafiret te ndihen shume special, i punova kartelat dekorative te vend uljes te cilat kishin emrin e secilit mysafire. Poashtu i mbeshtjella bukur dhuratat e vogla per mysafiret e ftuar dhe i vendosa ato siper pjates.

Tani ju le te shetiteni neper fotot e bashkangjitura dhe shpresoj qe ato do te ju sherbejne si inspirim per dekorin e tavolines s’uaj per festat qe po na afrohen keto dite.

Ishte nje dekorim i thjeshte, por qe dukej shume bukur.

Holiday Mantel Decor – Simple, Quick and Easy

Some of you, I believe, are already done with your holiday decorating, but for those out there who did not do this yet and your busy lives do not allow you to put layers and layers of holiday decor around the house, here is an easy and simple decor idea for your holiday mantel decor.

The main idea of this decor style is to use things that you find around the house and to recreate ways how to make ordinary things look festive.

I created this mantel decor in less then 15 minutes. I used a black tray with gold handles that I already own for a few years now. I just flipped it over, and added a big white snowflake that I had from a previous year. On the mantel I added some greenery, and topped it with some festive candle holders. On one side i placed three paper stars which are a simple DIY.

On the floor I placed two paper/fabric cones which I DIY-ed last year for my mantel decor, and I gave them a new look for this year.

So within minutes I sort of achieved a festive look, and I am liking it a lot. Also, the look can be easily changed, depending on the mood, by adding or replacing decor elements on and around the fireplace.

Dekorim Festiv i Kaminit – Thjeshte, Shpejte dhe Lehte

Besoj se disa nga ju tani me keni perfunduar me dekorimet per festat e fundvitit, megjithate per ata te cilet ende nuk e kan bere kete pasi qe axhendat e tyre te ngarkuara nuk ju mundesojne qe te ndajne kohe per te bere dekorime, ja se si munde te beni nje dekorim te thjeshte, te shpejte dhe te lehte per kaminin t’uaj kete vit.

Ideja e ketije stili dekorues eshte qe te perdoren gjerat e zakonshme te cilat i gjejme ne shtepi dhe gjetjen e menyrave se si t’i riperdorim gjerat e zakonshme dhe ti bejme ato te duken festive.

Dekorimi e ketije kamini u be per me pak se 15 minuta. E perdora nje tabake te zeze me doreza ngjyre ari te cilen e kam qe sa vite. E ktheva nga ana e pasme dhe i vendosa nje dekor fluske bore siper, te cilen gjithashtu e kisha nga viti i kaluar . Siper kaminit vendosa degeza bredhi nga kopshti, dhe siper tyre vendosa disa mbajtese festive te qirive. Ne njeren ane te kaminit vendosa disa ylleza punim dore nga letra e bardhe, ndersa ne dysheme afer kaminit vendosa konat nga materiali dhe letra e bardhe te punuar vitin e kaluar per dekorin e kaminit. Per t’ju dhene nje dukje te re konat i redekorova dhe ja pershtata konceptit dekorues per kete vit. Per nje pamje moderne, ne anen tjeter te kaminit, ne dysheme, poashtu vendosa edhe dy jasteket e dyshemes (poufs) te qepur rishtazi. Nje te tille e kisha qepur disa vite me pare, dhe instrukcionet per qepje gjenden ne kete link.

Keshtu pra brenda disa minutave arijta te krijoi nje pamje festive te kaminit e cila po duket shume bukur. Gjithashtu, pamja e ketije dekori munde te ndryshohet lehte, varesisht nga disponimi, duke shtuar ose zevendesuar elementet dekorative reth kaminit.
